In Monaco, getting involved in community action means placing your project within a framework where mutual aid, respect, and openness to the world are core values. The Principality offers a stable, well-structured environment, driven by human values, that fosters the development of solidarity-based initiatives. It promotes civic engagement through a strong culture of responsibility, transparency, and cooperation.
It is within this supportive context that the association Amitié Sans Frontières Internationale (ASFI) was founded in 1996. ASFI is built on a simple yet fundamental idea: friendship, when expressed through concrete and shared actions, can become a driving force for social transformation and a powerful vehicle for solidarity.
This friendship without borders is embodied through humanitarian projects, cultural exchanges, and meaningful commitments to vulnerable individuals—always guided by a spirit of respect, dignity, and brotherhood.
The movement began in Monaco in 1991 with the creation of the very first Amitié Sans Frontières club. Inspired by Anglo-Saxon models of so-called “service clubs,” this group brought together members around humanistic values and local action.
In 1996, to support the growth of the movement, the association Amitié Sans Frontières Internationale was officially established by ministerial decree in Monaco. It then became the coordinating body of the global network, ensuring its coherence, development, and institutional foundation. This structuring role was further reinforced in 2003 with the granting of consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
This international recognition reflects the association’s ongoing commitment to solidarity, peace, and dialogue among peoples. It also attests to the network’s significant contribution to major human and social challenges around the world.
Thanks to this status, Amitié Sans Frontières Internationale takes an active part in the work of the United Nations, giving civil society a voice and strengthening its action in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
A well-organized, solidarity-driven, and engaged network
The Amitié Sans Frontières network is built on a clear structure, organized around three complementary levels of governance.
At the international level, ASFI defines the main strategic directions, grants the necessary approvals for the creation of new entities within the network, and coordinates activities carried out in different countries.
At the national level, ASF associations are established in each country, subject to approval by ASFI’s Board of Directors. Each national entity operates in accordance with its country’s laws and regularly reports on its activities and financial management.
At the local level, community-based associations—often the successors of the original clubs—carry out solidarity projects in cities or regions, tailored to local realities and aligned with national and international guidelines.
This progressive structure, adapted to legal and cultural contexts, enables consistent, effective, and grounded action based on the needs of the population. Each level of the network is legally autonomous yet united in solidarity with the others, ensuring the cohesion of the overall mission while allowing room for local initiative.
ASFI’s core mission is to promote the creation of ASF associations around the world, to ensure their integrity and ethical compliance, and to support concrete humanitarian projects. It encourages the development of national and local associations in order to amplify the impact of solidarity and respond appropriately to today’s social challenges.
ASFI initiates or coordinates actions aimed at improving the living conditions of people facing hardship, vulnerability, or crisis. It also promotes intercultural dialogue based on friendship, mutual understanding, and respect for differences.
ASFI’s work is part of a broader vision—one of a more united, just, and humane world. In this context, friendship is not an abstract concept but a collective force: a capacity to build connections across borders, cultures, and languages.
Amitié Sans Frontières Internationale enjoys international recognition, which affirms the legitimacy of its commitment, the relevance of its actions, and its capacity to effectively address major global challenges.
The governance of the association is entrusted to a Board of Directors composed of distinguished individuals from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, all united by a deep attachment to the humanist values that form the foundation of the organization’s identity. This collective ensures the coherence of strategic directions and the consistent alignment of actions with the founding principles of Amitié Sans Frontières Internationale.
The association is looking toward a promising future under the leadership of a new, dynamic, and dedicated team, chaired by Countess Madame Valérie von Bredow, great-grandniece of German Chancellor Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck-Schönhausen.
Board of Directors:
Valérie von Bredow: President of ASF Internationale and ASF Monaco
Alessandro Mano: President of ASF Italy and Vice President of ASFI
Giacomo Baldissera: Vice President of ASF Monaco
Christian Chiappini: Treasurer
Mohamed Houara
Dr Tristan Lascar
Prof. Nadir Saoudi
Dr Patrick Fransen
Together, they guide the network’s strategic direction, oversee affiliated structures, and represent ASFI across various international bodies and partnerships.
ASFI is also a member of the Monaco Collectif Humanitaire, a landmark initiative in international cooperation launched in 2008 under the leadership of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. This collective brings together Monegasque and French NGOs united by a common goal: to provide children suffering from serious illnesses, primarily from developing countries, with access to specialized surgical care, particularly in the fields of cardiovascular and orthopedic surgery.
Through this alliance, ASFI contributes to a recognized solidarity program that tangibly reflects the values of humanity and mutual aid promoted by the Principality and shared across the entire Amitié Sans Frontières network.

Across the world, ASF national associations uphold the values of the network. They tailor their actions to local specificities while adhering to the ethical and organizational framework defined by ASFI. In Monaco, the national association ASFM, created in 1991, fully embodies this commitment. It carries out humanitarian activities within the Principality, participates in international projects, and actively contributes to the visibility of the network in Monaco. It benefits from a favorable institutional environment that promotes engagement, stability, and cooperation.
In France, the association ASF France, founded in March 2025 under the French 1901 law on non-profit organizations, conducts solidarity-based initiatives across the country. Its commitment is fully aligned with the values, principles, and strategic guidelines defined by Amitié Sans Frontières Internationale. Faithful to the spirit of the network, ASFF acts with ethical integrity, a strong sense of responsibility, and a determination to generate tangible impact. It is committed to promoting human solidarity with strict neutrality, without distinction of belief, nationality, or opinion, and strives to encourage the creation of local associations in order to better address the specific needs of each region. Its actions are part of a collective dynamic that connects local initiatives to a shared humanitarian vision on a global scale.

OUR GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS
In a context where humanitarian challenges are becoming increasingly complex, our new team seeks to initiate strong momentum based on three fundamental principles: credibility, feasibility, and transparency. Whether operating at the national, city, or regional level, all Amitié Sans Frontières associations are part of the same global mission.
ASFI aligns its international efforts with the key priorities defined by the United Nations. These encompass all aspects of sustainable development, including climate, biodiversity, energy, poverty, agriculture, education, and water. In 2025, our thematic focus will be on universal and equitable access to safe drinking water, by promoting the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Friendship without borders is a form of solidarity that transcends geographic, cultural, and human boundaries. Friendship and solidarity know no limits; they extend beyond distances and differences to unite individuals. The ASF network is built on this vision of global brotherhood, where mutual aid and sharing are the core values that guide us every day.
Friendship without borders is our strength. It fuels every project, every action, every encounter. We believe that the most lasting solutions are born from respect for others and openness to the world. Through our initiatives, we aspire to create genuine connections, build bridges between people and cultures, and open new perspectives for all.
We develop sustainable and measurable projects; each initiative is designed with a long-term perspective and includes systematic evaluation of its outcomes.
Our priority is to ensure rigorous management and to honor our commitments to partners and donors.
We base our work on three founding principles.
Each project we implement is carefully evaluated. We select initiatives that address the real needs of communities and have proven their effectiveness.
As responsible managers, we establish partnerships with organizations recognized for their expertise and reliability.
We are fully aware of the challenges involved in implementing a humanitarian project. That is why we are committed to designing realistic initiatives, adapted to local contexts, and built to last.
Each project is preceded by an in-depth study to ensure it can be carried out effectively and generate long-term impact. .
As an association, we believe it is essential that every donor be informed of how their contribution is used. We place great importance on providing detailed reports on fund allocation, accessible via our website, so that everyone can follow the progress of the projects they support. Your generosity deserves full transparency.
Through clear reporting, you will be regularly informed of our project developments. Reports, testimonials, photos, videos, and updates will be published on our website to ensure that your support is producing the intended impact.
We aim to build a relationship of trust with you. By supporting our cause, you are not only contributing to a humanitarian mission, but also joining a collective journey where every action matters.

Whether you are a donor, a future donor, a partner, or a potential partner, we invite you to join us on this human journey. If you are visiting our website, it may be because you feel the desire to be useful, to get involved, or to support a meaningful cause.

To engage with us is to help build a fairer, more united, and deeply human world. It is to give greater meaning to your own life by helping to improve the lives of others. It also means joining a community driven by empathy, respect, and sincere connections among peoples.

30ᵗʰ Anniversary of the "Amitié Sans Frontières Monaco" Tennis Tournament at the Monte Carlo Country Club and
René Novella Challenge
The tennis tournament organized by Amitié Sans Frontières Monaco celebrated its 30ᵗʰ anniversary this year. On this occasion, a special tribute was paid to the late His Excellency René Novella, a prominent figure in the Principality of Monaco. A distinguished Monegasque civil servant with an exceptional career, René Novella devoted his life to public service, particularly in the fields of culture, education, youth, and diplomacy. He served for many years as Monaco's Ambassador to Italy and, as a passionate man of letters, promoted dialogue between cultures.
In his honor, the “René Novella Challenge” cup was awarded to this year’s tournament winner. This trophy symbolizes the values he championed throughout his life: respect, fraternity, commitment, and openness to others. It fully embodies the spirit of sport and the mission of Amitié Sans Frontières:
to foster friendship beyond all borders.
Nearly 200 participants gathered around a shared goal of solidarity: to raise €15,000 in support of Monaco Collectif Humanitaire. Alongside the tournament, a rich program of cultural, scientific, artistic, and gastronomic events was offered: a reception for guests from the Italian ASF associations at the prestigious Hôtel Hermitage, a visit to the Monaco Scientific Centre and the Oceanographic Museum, attendance at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, and a tasting experience at Yannick Alléno’s Pavyllon...
These moments of sharing and exchange continued during a charity gala with a tombola. The funds raised will make it possible to bring a young girl from Madagascar to Monaco so that she can receive specialized medical treatment at the
Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Centre.
The enthusiasm shared this year suggests a highly anticipated 31ˢᵗ edition to come for all participants.

ASF Monaco organized an exclusive visit to the Monaco Scientific Centre, followed by a friendly cocktail reception and a prestigious finale on the red carpet at the Opening Ceremony of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival. Guests, both local and Italian, are already looking forward to returning next year.
The evening concluded with a dinner at the Tavolo restaurant in Monaco.

The charity dinner organized by Amitié Sans Frontières Genoa was held in the splendid setting of

An evening dedicated to social commitment and solidarity, it brought together numerous guests and notable figures around a clear objective: to raise funds in support of two local organizations that work with passion and dedication in the field of autism.
The main beneficiaries of this fundraising initiative were the associations Free Sport ASD and Emozioni Giocate ETS.
